South African sneaker boutique Shelflife have tapped local designer Dr. Z for its latest collaborative project: the “City of Gold” New Balance 574. Inspired by the city of Johannesburg, the release showcases South Africa’s largest metropolis to sneaker aficionados across the globe by taking cues from the city’s gold trade, local train system, “Parktown Prawn” king cricket, and African tribal art and applying them throughout. All of these colours are set across a slew of premium leathers, suedes, nubucks, meshes, and of course a hint of 3M reflective across the heel panel. Throw in a set of removable a set of replaceable signature N’s before finishing it all off atop a golden sole complete with golf flecked midsole.
This latest collaboration will available this Saturday the 26th of April at our Melbourne CBD location. Pairs will release from 11am in store, with remaining pairs releasing online from 12pm the same day. Mens sizes US5 through to US12 will be available, with retail set at $150. Remember to get in quick as numbers will be extremely limited, so until Saturday we’ll leave you with all of the details after the jump.
