MY NOIR JEAN002

May 16th, 2012

It’s that time of year again and I have just started to break in my new NOIR jeans. I actually started wearing these the day they were delivered from Japan, however I am a slack blogger and am only updating now. If you read some of our other articles here and here you will get all the info on just what makes these soooo good. For now I don’t have too much to report except that I am very excited to get stuck into these jeans as it is a real thrill to work on something from right at the start and finally have a finished product to put to use! Enjoy the picks and I will try and update you on the wear every month or so!

SHOES FOR THE SUMMER PART 3

January 17th, 2012

For my last installment of Shoes For Summer I have, in my opinion, the best two New Balances we have had in store since we opened. Firstly the 1500PSW is one of the original OG colourways of the model. With a banging purple suede upper and mesh toebox, it was just too hard to say know to these and as you can see they have been taking a fair beating. The second NB shoe I have chosen is the 1300LG. In my opinion this was by far and away the sneaker of the year in 2011 and I seem to share that opinion with a few others as well. The 1300 model is one of the sleekest shoes New Balance creates. This particular variation came of NB’s Boston factory in the USA, which is currently producing the best quality sporting brand footwear in the world. This shoe has one of the softest uppers I have ever had the privileged of putting my feet into and the colourway is perfect for the Australian summer. For those that missed out on these (they sold out in about 2 weeks) don’t worry as we have at least three more colourways coming this year, and I think at least one of them will appear in my shoes for Winter 2012!

NIKE, KOBE & COMMERCIALS

January 17th, 2012

I am a basketball fan. You could almost say fanatic and for those of you who know me, you know how much I am a Kobe Bryant hater. Firstly, it’s because I have to be, I am a Celtic man. Secondly because of his attitude/arrogance/complaining and overatedness. To all those Laker fans out there who think he is the greatest to play the game, please just go a do a little research, he is not even the greatest Laker, probably not even top 3 (Magic, West, Kareem, Shaq).

However I am one to appreciate some of Kobe’s footwear and especially what Nike has done with the ‘Kobe System’. In what could have been the season to begin Kobes downfall (old age, no Lamar Odom) Kobe has stepped it up with his play and Nike have kept him relevant with his latest shoe.

I am going to put it out there and say that there is no other company in the world that does commercials better than Nike. When they really put their minds to it, they captivate the thoughts and imaginations of people of all age and race. From MJ to Kobe and Lebron to Federer, Tiger, Lance and Ronaldo Nike finds away to continually push the boundaries of what we see in those 30 & 60 second time slots in between the Simpsons and Swamp People.

So while my Kobe hate will never relinquish, I will always have a soft spot when he is involved with this sort of Nike advertising power play.

Check below for some of Nikes commercial greatness.

SHOES FOR THE SUMMER PART 2

November 29th, 2011

Its finally time for my next installment of shoes for the summer. From Converse, I have picked two of our recent First-string releases in collaboration with the Hideout Store in London and Missoni.  For me, both shoes are very wearable and come with the added benefit of a thicker cushioned inner soles for that extra comfort. The Burgundy of the Hideout Lowtop chuck is one of my favourite colours and it just work with anything I seem to out it with.  The continuing collaboration between Missoni and Converse are some of the most exciting shoes going around and I could help but put a pair of these straight t on my feet. I’m not sure exactly what draws me to Missoni, but anything they put their hands on seems to have my attention straight away. All over prints all the way! So when you see me next floating around the store don’t be surprised if you see me in either of these over the next few months!

NOIR JEAN001 1 YEAR WASHED

October 27th, 2011

I finally caved in and washed my NOIR jeans. After just under a year, with a lot of wear, a lot of dust, dirt and grime and the arrival of our specially made summer version of the JEAN001 it was time. I really love how they have come out, the whiskers are perfect and they are now softer than I could imagine. I hot washed them twice to bring out as much colour as possible so they did shrink a little, but it’s nothing a few quick trips to the gym can’t fix! Now hopefully this excites you to a) keep wear your Noirs and don’t be afraid to give them a wash or b) come and get a pair of these because they will change your life!
