For those of you that gotten to know us closely, you know that we have bee looking forward to this particular shoe since we saw the first pictures of the first samples on the 22nd of June 2011. That was 496 days before this post, and 498 days before the eventual release. A lot has changed since then; first off the actual Missoni material used on the upper is very different; the release has gone from runway special, to never, to Missoni Botiques, to Converse First String account (like us); and we have seen the next two installments in the series (not coming out for agessss so don’t stress!)
The Auckland Racer was originally designed as a running shoe in the 1970’s, carrying a lineage associated with the early pioneers of the jogging movement. The upper of the shoes is constructed from a Missoni space-dyed wool and highlighted with pop of metallic lamé thread, resulting in a three dimensional texture reminiscent of Missonis beautiful textured Knits. The canvas lining and rubber sole maintain the styles classic running heritage with the 100% wool upper giving it that little bit of modern flare.
This release is exclusive to Up There in Melbourne and will be available from 12.00AM on Wednesday the 31st of October online and 11.00AM in store at our 15 McKillop Street location.
